Hey Reader hey!

Lemme tell you about the time I stopped telling my clients to "just rest"

Why? Cuz I kept watching brilliant, God-fearing women try... and feel like they were failing. And then quietly blame themselves for not being "disciplined enough." ๐Ÿ˜ช

Women who genuinely wanted to stop. Women who blocked off Sundays for the fancy lil TikTok resets. Bought the TJ Maxx candles. Tried the lil self-care apps. Put "rest" in their calendar like it was an appointment they could just show up to...

And still... couldn't... settle... Still couldn't just... exhale... STILL woke up Saturday morning ALREADY bracing for Monday. ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ

Sound familiar Boo? ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

So I just stopped...

I told myself I was gonna try something different - just for a season tho... Just to actually look at what was happening underneath the exhaustion instead of treating what was sitting on top of it.

And Reader ggggiiiiiiiirl! What I found when I looked? Changed everything.

First thing I noticed? How many of my clients were carrying something they had never had a name for. Stay with me on this one Boo - I'mma make it make sense in a minute...

Things that happened in childhood. In relationships. In systems that didn't protect them the way they should have. Things their bodies memorized even when they just put it in their "I'm over it" category... ๐Ÿฅบ

Their nervous systems were still on guard...

Still scanning...

Still bracing...

Not cuz they were broken - cuz they were responding exactly the way a body responds when it's learned (somewhere along the way) that it ain't safe to stop... to breathe... to exist...

What I noticed next? Chileee. ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ

Girl they definitely ain't need MORE rest tips or ANOTHER thing added to their already-uber-long-never-ending-to-do-list.

They needed somebody to finally explain why rest felt impossible in the first place. Cuz nobody ever connected the dots for them. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ Nobody had simply said... Aight check it Babes- ya inability to slow down ain't actually a character flaw...

It's probably a trauma response.

And I sat with THAT for a long time Reader.

Know why? Cuz we live in a culture that tells exhausted women to JUST TRY HARDER at resting - like willpower is the missing ingredient that's magically finna fix YEARS of generational trauma responses! Psssshhhhtttt!

Like if you could just be more disciplined about ya Saturdays, ya body would finally cooperate. But truthfully? Reader, you cannot willpower ya way out of a nervous system that is stuck in survival mode fr... and that's just the truth. ๐Ÿค

Ya body has to feel safe BEFORE it can settle.

And let's keep it real! For a lot of women walking around right now? That safety ain't never been fully established (cuz they've never had the space to even LEARN HOW to establish it). So the rest tips legit don't even make sense for their lifestyle! Not cuz they ain't trying. Cuz their body is doing exactly what it was trained to do: hustle hard and survive!

Psalm 23 says He makes me lie down in green pastures. Not "He suggests I take a nap" ๐Ÿ˜‚ Not "He sends a calendar reminder to log off" ๐Ÿ˜‚ No Boo...He literally makes a way!

And I believe that with everything I have in me Reader! But I also know that if a woman's body is locked in a response she don't even recognize: she can't fully receive what God is trying to give her. The door is wide open: God's literally extending an invitation... She just can't walk through it yet... ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ

That's what this work is actually about.

Not just teaching rest. Helping women get safe enough to actually receive it.
