Can I be honest with you about something I don't talk about enough? For almost two years - I was doing rest completely wrong Reader...

And I don't mean a lil bit wrong.

I mean I had a WHOLE journal dedicated to my "rest practice." Affirmations. A morning routine I protected like it was sacred. A therapist with 15+ years of training in mental wellness.

And I was still exhausted. ๐Ÿ˜ช

I was convinced that if I could just be MORE consistent - more disciplined about my self-care, MORE intentional about my Saturdays, MORE committed to the routine - my body would finally cooperate.

So I kept going HARDER at rest Chile. ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ

Adding more to the practice. Girl I was legit convinced that finding the next thing that might be THE thing.

And still? Every few weeks I would hit a wall that made absolutely no sense given eeeeeeeeverything I was doing "right"

The thing that finally cracked it open for me was a week that looked almost identical from Monday to Sunday.

Same routine. Same foods. Same sleep schedule. I felt incredible Monday morning! Oh yeaaaa! But by Thursday? I was running on fumes and couldn't even tell you why Chile. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

What stayed the same was everything I could SEE: the habits, the food, the sleep.

But it was the most emotionally loaded week I'd had in months. And I hadn't connected those two things until I finally gave myself permission to sit down and look. I mean... really looked.

I had spent two whole years treating my nervous system like it was separate from everything else happening around it. Like if I just got the ROUTINE right... my body would behave.

What I had actually been missing?

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Ya nervous system don't care about ya Saturday routine if it never gets the signal that it's actually SAFE to downshift during the week!

It's about teaching ya body that it's safe to stop. ๐Ÿค

And when I finally started working WITH my nervous system instead of just scheduling around it?

My depletion and exhaustion shifted more in one month than in the previous two years combined. I ain't even kidding Boo!

I'm sharing this cuz I talk to women ALL the time who are doing everything right on paper and still waking up tired. Still crashing and calling it recovery. Still confused about why the rest ain't actually restoring them.

It might be worth asking what ya nervous system is actually asking for instead of trying to do more or add more on top of more on top of more in an endless loop... but just sitting...
